Founded in 1972, Vida Y Salud-Health Systems, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center chartered by the State of Texas. Vida Y Salud is accredited by The Joint Commission since 1990.

Vida Y Salud-Health Systems, Inc. (VSHSI) is a Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) Deemed Health Center. VSHSI is a deemed employee of the Public Health Service under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n); therefore its medical and dental providers are deemed as federal employees with liability protection coverage under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) for actions within the scope of deemed employment.
